Anna Crumley Nelson - Our Director
Miss Anna is a native of Sedalia, Mo. She began her dance journey at the tender age of 5. At the age of 12 she joined American Dance Center, a pre-professional ballet company in Overland Park, Kansas. She performed with this company all the way through high school. After graduating high school, Miss Anna decided to further her education in dance and auditioned for the dance program at Stephens College. She was accepted and offered a scholarship. She graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. Since graduating Miss Anna has worked with some of the top professionals in the dance industry. Miss Anna has worked across the nation judging dance competitions, and teaching choreography as a master teacher. She has also been recognized at numerous dance competitions for her choreography. Many of her students have gone on to dance in L.A. or New York.
Although her accolades may be long she realizes that none of this is without due praise. She humbly thanks her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. She understands it is God who created her, gave her grace and the gift of dance. 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For you were bought at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God’s.” She can never repay her Savior for what He has done for her but she can take that gift of dance and in turn, teach others. Miss Anna’s studio philosophy is quite simple, inspiring hearts and minds through proper dance education. Her ministry is simple too, although so much more important to her. Her mission is to communicate through her gift of dance about Christ’s love. His saving grace He provides for us all and to surround herself with humans who want to pursue their best life and understand eternal love, salvation and grace. Miss Anna loves seeing her dancers excel in this art and sport, but her ultimate goal for Studio A is to be a part of Christ that reaches to Sedalia and beyond. 2 Corinthians 4:5 says, “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants’ for Jesus’ sake.” If anyone would ever pose the question “Why?” to Miss Anna to any of this, her answer would simply be, “because of Him.”
I’m really trying hard, even with my babies at 2, to instill the values and the culture and art and the love of dance; how it can unfold into their whole life.
